In September 2008, the second edition of the youth contest ‘Win your own foundation’ had its kick-off. The contest was an initiative of CJP (Cultural Youth Passport) and TakeCareNow! of Dutch health insurance company Agis. People aged between 17 and 30 were asked to send in a film about the power of Africa. The website shows the subject of Africa at first glance by overlapping videos in the shape of the continent and by the presence of a warm sun.

Anticipating on the football hype, the Consumentenbond website showed what flat screen TV is best to watch your football games on. The orange football pages showed practical information, such as the match schedule.

Workmate connects people searching volunteer jobs to organizations searching volunteers in the Rotterdam area. Individuals can apply to become a ‘workmate’ and find a temporary volunteer job that suits their interests and capacities. Companies can also apply if they want to stimulate their employees to do volunteer work. The initial design for the website was colorful, to make people enthusiastic about doing volunteer work.

Auction site for holidays and various other products. People bid via text messaging, when they have the lowest unique bid they win. The website is colorful and consists of a grid with modules to present offers in an orderly way. The round forms give the website its friendly appearance. The newspaper ad has the same look and feel. Thanks to the grid it can be adjusted to the weekly changing offer.
Expo Online Shop

Dutch gift shop Expo wanted to translate its store experience into an online shop. Expo sells a broad range of gifts and each store has a thematic display-window. This was taken as the starting point for the online shops as well. Online and… offline display-windows are tuned to each other and vary according to themes like Valentine’s Day and Christmas.
The online display-window has been designed in the form of a grid with modules. This guarantees a invariable position of the pictures, while at the same time Expo can vary the texts and pictures shown.
Silvana
What: Online design | Client: Black Magic Marker
Silvana offers duvets and pillows suited to everyone’s specific needs. There are two tests on the website: ‘pick your pillow’ and ‘discover your duvet’. They guide customers to the products best designed for their sleeping habits. Once they know what Silvana duvet and pillow they need, customers can either enter the contest to win them or go to one of the Silvana resellers. Visitors can also send their old pillow to a virtual ‘pillow heaven’. The airy design of a light blue sky with floating thin clouds communicates the refreshing night rest Silvana products offer.

Online Catalogue for the Utrecht University Library
What: Online design | Client: Puurpxl together with Stroomt
The Utrecht University Library wanted to replace its search system. Based on usability research, both the interaction and the design of the system’s interface were improved too. Stroomt determined the… operational concept of the new searching system and designed the most important pages.
Goal of the system is to offer people the possibility to search the library in different ways. During this process, visitors should always know where they are. Light grey areas are used to focus visitors’ attention to the information they need.
Kidskrant – Traffic Safety Page

The Dutch ‘Kid’s Journal’ informs children between the ages of 10 and 13 in a playful manner about subjects such as politics, nature and health. It also has a page dedicated to traffic safety… with games and information about traffic safety. The design of this section was inspired by asphalt, pedestrian crossings and the blue used in traffic signs.
